NEW YORK KNICKS DEFEATED BOSTON CELTICS
The Battle in the East took place on 04/09/26 with these two teams going at it.
This game provided some incredible offense. Madison Square Garden was electric. While Boston Celtics holds the number two spot and New York Knicks are at the number three spot in the East, the win for the Knicks is encouraging.
If you watched the basketball playoffs on last year these two gave a great 2025 series. While the Knicks were victorious in that series. A lot of questions were asked could they repeat that same narrative. You have Jayson Tatum who is back from his Achillies injury and has been playing just like he did before he was sidelined. You also have Jaylen Brown who has held the team down, winning night after night with superb effort while Tatum was out.
When these two teams play, what wins is defense. Keeping offense stagnate. Bodying your opponent. Staying on your man and assignment. In the game last night, they kept Jayson Tatum from his usual offensive explosion. While Tatum locked in 24 points, which was a great, he went cold in the 4th quarter. Jaylen Brown was sidelined in this game due to injury, but the Celtics did have two powerhouse wing men, Baylor Scheierman and Payton Pritchard that were teaching a masterclass in raining the three-point shots. The Knicks couldn't find an answer in stopping them, even the organ player at the Garden was quiet.
So....if you can't stop it, join it; the Knicks had their own three-point master of the night. Josh Hart he went nuclear in the last final minutes of the game landing two three-point shots that kept Boston from gaining ground and pulling off an upset.
The New York Knicks defeated Boston Celtics with the score of 112-106.
