Trade talks regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo to the New York Knicks
The expectations for New York Knicks basketball team are high this season.
The fan base has gone into overdrive. Imagine just a few years ago the fanbase was down in the dump, drying their tears with beach towels and wearing paper bags over their heads at the games with the words written "why are we here".
The team has improved they are in the playoffs again this year and ranked number three in the East and not to mention they won the Cup tournament. The Knicks have one of the best guards right now running point and orchestrating with Jalen Brunson. You have a Mitchell Robinson that is developing into a real beast. He is playing great defense in the paint and providing you some great points inside. Karl Anthony Towns is starting to find his footing, he has provided some serious defense, and he is providing ball movement for easy plays. Towns is showing more spurts of aggressive plays inside.
The question is, is it enough. The answer to most fans including some sports analyst, Nooooo! They want Giannis Antetokounmpo and will say trade the whole team for him if you have too. Giannis will give the Knicks exactly what they need a championship ring; Giannis he is the answer.
While Giannis is a great player, I disagree with this whole concept. Logically if you go with this concept who would you be giving up in this trade. Let's dive in, you surely would lose Towns, Bridges, and I would guess Robinson or Anunoby. What would you get in return Giannis and some nobodies and plus some draft picks. Is it worth it.
The basketball season is long and grueling and with as many injuries that have impacted our major basketball stars. The pendulum would surely swipe Giannis, in a matter of fact he is just recovering from an injury. If he gets injured, who would you depend on to keep winning games. Brunson surely can't do it by himself.
The phenomenon with OKC is they got a championship ring winning as a team. Not trying to buy its way there. Giannis is not the answer. Let's not join the masses. Let's not put the fanbase back in those paper bags over their heads again.
