The Clock is talking- LA Lakers lose to Oklahoma City Thunder
The questions are in the air, in game 3 of the LA Lakers loss to Oklahoma City Thunder
The Los Angeles Lakers got pummeled by the Oklahoma City Thunder last night in game 3 of the Western Conference series. The score was LA Lakers 108 to Oklahoma City Thunder 131. I don't think anyone is really surprised by the way this series going but in the same moment there are some serious questions.
In a deeper dive Lebron James had 19 points and the high scorer was Rui Hachimura with 21 points. Oklahoma City Thunder high scorer was Ajay Mitchell 24 points. Oklahoma City Thunder plays team ball they have a bench that is ready at any time to contribute. Even when their best player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a mediocre game it's the next man up. The Los Angeles Lakers unfortunately don't have the same luxury, and they are not getting enough production from Deandre Ayton.
Decisions, Decisions, tick tock, what happens to the Los Angeles Lakers and Lebron James after the series? To be honest the Lakers are in the same situation they were in when they had Anthony Davis. When Anthony Davis was on the team he suffered with a lot of injuries which would put the Lakers in a bind. Lebron James can't carry the majority of the load. Lebron is a great player, much respect but father time aint on his side. What will be his next step, if he stays (not retire) he will have plenty of expectations. Will Luka Doncic be in it? Clearly you need more offensive minded bench.
In today's NBA the big three is a thing of the past it's about collective offensive spread. While it's not always easy to find the right formula and cohesiveness it is what drives the team to the next level. What will the Lakers be willing to give up to find the right formula to get to the next level and to satisfy their star power player Lebron James or will he decide to take his talents back to the house.
Game 4 will be on tomorrow May 11, 2026 9:30pm
