THE JOURNEY
The New York Knicks had a journey that wasn't easy, it was filled of doubters and haters to the 2025 NBA Finals Championship. Even the believers started having doubts.
The New York Knicks had an up and down regular season making it hard to determine the team's identity. This narrative took a serious turn when the New York Knicks seemed to continuously lose to the Detroit Pistons, in which Detroit was ranked number one in the East.
Detroit won the first game 121 to New Yorks 90, the second game Detroit 118 to New York 80 and Detroit the third game 126 to New York 111. Then the Boston Celtics seemed to enter the picture winning without their superstar player, Jason Tatum; who was out due to a ruptured Achilles tendon injury. Boston Celtics was ranked number two in the East led by Jaylen Brown. At the end of the regular season entering into the playoffs Jason Tatum came back and didn't miss a beat. Tatum came back game ready, playing unbelievable. People started the chatter on how this would affect the New York Knicks in the battle of the East. New York Knicks was ranked number three going into the playoffs.
The questions started to mount, the critics and analyst started chirping, the fans were filled with anxiety.
- . Jalen Brunson is too small to be the superstar and can't lead a team to a championship ⌧
- . Karl Anthony Towns is not aggressive enough, he lacks defense ⌧
- . The bench is inconsistent; they can't supply enough offense ⌧
- . Jalen Brunson dribbles too much he can't get the team going ⌧
- . The three-point shooting is inconsistent ⌧
- . Too much ISO's not enough ball spreading ⌧
- . Too much relying on Jalen Brunson ⌧
- . Coach Mike Brown decision making, questionable ⌧🙋♀️ (LOL Ok that was me)
And here we are today, proud and sharing the joy.
Nobody said, Nobody thought, Nobody dreamed:
- . The most road playoff wins in a post season run
- . They set a record with four double digit comeback Finals
- . Erased six 12-point deficits during the post season. The second most in a single play off run
- . Jalen Brunson set a franchise record for the most points scored in an NBA finals
Congratulations New York Knicks a great story, a great journey and a well-deserved win.
Hopefully my San Antonio Spurs friends will unblock my phone calls.
