Baker Mayfield is feeling a certain type of way about his team
This is the last year on quarterback, Baker Mayfield contract with Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the contract extension discussions have been as you can say a little less than ideal for the quarterback. Going into training camp there is some tension during negotiations in which Mayfield and the organization are in a place of unresolve.
Oh boy......during today's press conference Baker Mayfield has let his feelings be known on his frustrations with the organization stating his feelings are of undervalued and disrespected during the process of proposed contract meetings with the Buccaneers organization. Mayfield has decided to stop the negotiations instead moving forward and just will focus on the season that is before him.
People have been reporting that the Buccaneers only offered Mayfield a two-year extension where he was looking for a long-term agreement. Mayfield was also looking for an annual salary set up like the rest of the quarterbacks who are franchise status bringing in $50 million a year, but the Buccaneers wasn't offering anything close to that amount.
Mayfield thought he deserved more due to his field leadership, and his success on the field. It's apparent that Baker Mayfield may be looking for another team until then he will continue this season under his final year in his current contract which is a 3-year $100 million contract he signed in 2024.
