Quarterback Jayden Daniels and LSU issue
Jayden Daniels the Washington Commanders quarterback is feeling a little disrespected due to his college alma mater the LSU tigers using his name, image and likeness (NIL). Jayden Daniels has gone so far with his issues with the school that he has had an attorney to send a cist and desist letter to the school. (Now you ask how the school LSU is using Daniels his Name, Image and Likeness (NIL))
It's simple and yet not simple.... The LSU football jersey #5. Jayden Daniels wore this number during his breakout season with 3,812 passing yards, 40 passing touchdowns, 1,134 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns making him the 2023 Heisman trophy recipient. Someway, somehow Daniels felt that his accomplishments meant that his shirt would have been retired and that no one else would be able to wear the jersey number again. (yikes)
Well to continue with the story and plot LSU this upcoming season has allowed sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett to wear a number 5 jersey. This move has not set well with the former quarterback and his family and has drawn a line in the sand with LSU.
In a statement by the current football coach at LSU that in order to bring in the sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett they promised that he could wear that number on the field. That this was part of the negotiations to get Pickett to commit to the school. They do not intend of breaking the promise to the sophomore. The LSU head coach Brian Kelly promised him the jersey in his recruitment and when Coach Kiffin took over the program he honored the commitment to Pickett.
Daniels and his team have brought up that former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow jersey has not been worn since his departure in 2019.
For the record LSU Retirement of jersey rules is that a player's number cannot be retired until a five-year waiting period has passed.
Just my opinion; I am the best worker at my job; I wonder if they can retire my desk when I retire.
